a.michellem87 asked: My boyfriend and I are splitting up. We have a 10 month old son together. I have been a stay at home mom, so my resources are limited and I do not have the money to hire a lawyer. Will lawyers charge you just to talk to them? I need to figure out what my rights are and what my son’s father’s rights are.

Ms. MD asked: I heard that if you write up your will, have it noterized and mail it to yourself, then never open the envelope that this is a legal way to create a will. Does anyone know if this is true?

Blu b asked: My ex mistress had a baby. I signed a acknoledgement of paternity paper without reading what it was, was told it was a release form for the baby. She had it covered and I later learned the nurse that was a witness was a good freind of hers. I know it was stupid but I was in a hurry. Now I have been ordered to pay child support which I won’t mind if the child is mine. Which I doubt. The baby look noyhing like me and the dates don’t add up. Also she told my wife she was a virgin until she meet me so not true. Anyway I know I can still have a dna test done that I need to pay for but will I need a lawyer to patition the court so it’s legal?

honey asked: I am located in Washington State and I need to Collect Child Support from my children’s father who has been avoiding his responsibilities. I do not think it is fair to have my current spouse supporting them on everything (even though he wants to) and let this deabbeat father run away from his responsibilities. Please help. I have contacted the Los Angeles Child Support Div already but been asked for so many requirements simultaneously… I wanted to find someone who can help me here in WA since I am living here now.

artsam9896 asked: My ex and I have joint custody of our two children. They live with her. She wants to leave the state to pursue a new relationship. She is requesting a court allow her move, which leaves me without being able to see my children on a regular basis. I cannot afford a lawyer and she can.

David G asked: It has been brought our attention by our ex-lawyer that the child’s lawyer and the fathers lawyer have been seen playing golf together. This is a conflict of interest. We are not rich that’s why we don’t have a lawyer anymore, and since we don’t and the father does, the child’s lawyer does everything he can to side with his golf buddy’s client. This is wrong, and I’d appreciate any help I can get. The state is Illinois if that helps.

ruthie35@sbcglobal.net asked: I was never married to the father of my children. He was agreeing to the terms that I set out, now he wants to go and change them because our 5 year old does not want to see him. She won’t even go near his apartment door! He does not pay a dime to those children. He is not supposed to have time alone with the children because of uncontrolled sezuires and his girlfriend is the same way! They are on medication for that disorder but they never tell me if and when they go through one or more! I would be endangering the lives of the children. He also lives in a run-down apartment. I barely support the children on a 40-hour a week job and going to night school. What paperwork do I have to file and where, for child support and child custody?

Amanda W asked: My step-daughter pretty much lives with us. We have had her for 9 months straight. Her mother does not come and see her nor does she call. My hub even pays child supoort. Everytime that we have the $$ for a lawyer something comes up and we cant afford it. Isent there some other way that we can gain custody? The mother says that she will sign over right but even to do that it will cost us $800.

Meandthekids asked: It’s not an abuse/neglect situation. It’s an agreement that was already in place between the other parent and me. Over time, we have both come to disagreement over custodial schedule issues. Is it okay to represent myself or should I really have a lawyer present?
